My current research activity focuses on the physics of strongly-correlated ultracold atoms in optical lattices, with particular attention to the quantum effects emerging as a consequence of strong interactions within a Lagrangian formulation of the Gutzwiller approximation.
Starting from the consistent desciption of collective excitations and observable quantities offered by the latter approach, I am currently working on the dephasing dynamics of two-level impurities coupled to a Bose-Hubbard bath, in order to characterize the relationship between information backflow effects on the impurity coherence and the physics of the bosonic Mott transition.
